Socially distant escapade to Letchworth!
I gotta say, our household has reached peak cabin fever. I really, truly recognize the need for social distancing, and we have really, truly done our part… no one has been in our home since the movers left at the beginning of March. Groceries delivered to our front porch. No makeshift gatherings with “six feet apart” regulations. It has just been us and the animals since lockdown started in New York.
But this week we decided we need to do something. Our two year old hasn’t gone anywhere but the “tv room” in almost two months. So we carefully planned a little day trip, outlined our travel schedule, and packed a cooler and our face masks into our Atlas, and hit the road to Letchworth State Park. We even invited Grandpa and Grandma to join us… with their own blanket and big open park, it was so nice to see them and catch up. I know it was hard for them to not hug and play and cuddle with their grandson, but even just being in the same vicinity provided some much needed (distant) socializing.
It’s open to the public, and they aren’t charging a fee to enter, but most/all the bathrooms are closed, and the playgrounds, benches, and pavilions are roped off. But the trails and open areas are there, and it wasn’t hard at all to keep to ourselves. So it was exactly what we needed. Some fresh air, and a change of scenery (that was absolutely stunning).
